As well as being a great place to visit for the holiday's, Plaka is also becoming famous for traditional fresh food served in the restaurants which can be found on the front looking over to Spinalonga. Famous names who have eaten in Plaka include, Naomi Campbell, Lady Gaga and many more. However now a true food connoisseur is arriving, Celebrity Chef James Martin is sailing in on his travels around the Mediterranean and he is on a search for traditional fresh food.
At the tender age of just five James made his debut in the kitchen. His father ran the catering at Castle Howard and by the age of 12, the young Yorkshire lad had already cooked for the Queen Mother.
I won't tell you to much because I don't want to spoil it for you, however each episode will see James sail into a different Mediterranean port, where he will meet, greet and eat. Every programme will start with him sailing in to the location before heading off in search of fascinating food producers who will introduce him to the local fresh ingredients that are available. He will meet a food producer and a local chef and also shop for ingredients in the areas markets.
He will be learning about the local produce, flavours and styles of cooking by chatting to the locals and being shown around by them. He will be constantly collecting ingredients. Once he has acquired all the ingredients, James will cook up an authentic meal to the group of the locals on board the boat. Will he be able to impress them with his dishes?

At 16 he went to Scarborough Technical College to learn his trade and it was here he shone, as Student of the Year for three years running.
At 21, James opened the Hotel and Bistro du Vin in Winchester as Head Chef. Mixing Modern British with Mediterranean, James restaurant became a huge success............
